On Wearing Summer Fragrances During Winter And Vice Versa

By

Don’t you ever wonder why there are fragrances made especially for a particular season? And do these scents really make you feel warm during the harsh cold of winter? In the same fashion, do these fragrances relieve you of the heat during the blistering months of summer?

I have to admit that in my fragrance collection, I have perfumes for all seasons. I guess the same applies for those who are just as crazy with scents as I am. I don YSL Opium and DKNY Black Cashmere for winter; Elizabeth Arden Green Tea and Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue for Spring; and Clinique Happy for summer. But I don’t necessarily wait for the season to use these fragrances. I wear them whenever I feel like it.

So, are these so-called scents of the season just a trend, a mere fad?

I believe it is. Just like clothes and music, perfumes have classics, mainstream and niche lines. Each category represents a specific era of perfumers where they displayed their art in the field of perfumery.

The fragrances don’t warm nor cool you down. It’s the quasi-experience and the ephemeral feeling of warmth and coolness that fragrance houses want to evoke in every scent they create. The campaign does a lot to influence people into buying and wanting the perfume!

The light florals, woody chypres and aquatic musks can be worn regardless of the season, in my opinion. I’d still wear my Light Blue in winter. It does remind me of summer. And the feeling alone uplifts the gloomy days of the cold.

Exploring these seasonal scents is easy. Discount perfume online store, scentiments.com has a wide array of fragrances ranging from the classics such as Guerlain and the more recent celebrity scents like Britney Spears and of course, the scents of season.

Do you follow the scent for each season trend?

  • Yes, without a doubt!
  • Nope, it doesn't make any difference. A scent is a scent, regardless.
