Holiday Perfumes

We’re down to less than two weeks before Christmas! Have you finished doing your Christmas shopping for your friends and families? Have you bought something for yourself for the holidays?

For the shopaholics and perfumistas, this is the season to splurge. It’s true that it’s been a tough year for the economy but retail hasn’t forgotten to treat customers to enormous sales and discounts offline and online. In the perfumery, there are about over 800 new perfumes released this year. Can you believe those numbers? I haven’t sampled them all, unfortunately. Most of the new mainstream fragrances are either flankers of the originals or a bad replica of the successful classic fragrances. The niche lines are a different story altogether. Some are good, others aren’t. Besides, most of them, if not all, are prohibitively expensive.

I’ve always been a fan of classics and likewise, adventurous enough to explore new fragrances. So, this year among the many perfumes I own, here are the top three fragrances which I consider “regulars” from discount perfume retailer, scentiments.com.

Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue

At first sniff, Light Blue reminded me of summers spent in Italy. The wafting of the ocean breeze in the early morning and the refreshing symphony of fruits and flowers combined are the reasons why this perfume is a regular during the scorching heat of summer. It’s light, delicate and quietly sensual. It doesn’t turn acrid on my skin and the sillage is more than enough. It’s long lasting and very pleasant.

Alfred Sung Sung Perfume

Sung Perfume is one of my flower power collectibles from the 80s. I love how the elegant features of the floral notes develop into a creamy drydown. The floral base evokes a beautiful garden of flowers in spring. The overdose of floral accords may come off a tad heavy compared with the mainstreams but then again this isn’t a girly type perfume rather a special event or evening affair fragrance.

Ed Hardy Woman Perfume

I find Ed Hardy’s tattoo art very fascinating and with each Ed Hardy fragrance, I’m more amazed with the creativity of the artist. The perfume portfolio is just as exciting. This strawberry-laden fragrance spells youth and fun! I’ve worn this during a party and it sits nicely on my skin plus the fact that it suits the occasion. The sweetness of the floral-fruity combo is well-executed. It doesn’t come off as cloyingly sweet.

So, which holiday perfume piques your fancy this 2009?

Lovely Hub - I can tell you like perfumes.

I loved the smell of Dolce&Gabbana but found out the smell is not the same as when it's in a gift box with other products. E.g gift sets. Perfume and cream.

A the moment, La Femme Boss (Hugo) is my favourite.

Great Hub. I hope one day you'll do one on Celebrity Perfumes - JLo, Jean Paul, Christina, Britney Spears. It would be interesting to know if they are really worth the prices. No Pressure. lol.

Best wishes. :)

I did sample some celeb perfumes in the past. I like JLo's. Britney and Paris seem to girly for me.

On D&G's Light Blue, that is strange. Does the gift set version smell better or weaker? I usually buy the perfume alone w/o the body products.

Thanks for dropping by! :)
